 Layers pellets are a complete feed for your chickens & has everything they require to keep them in tiptop condition.They can be purchased at lots of retailers such as feed merchants like Wynnstay or Countrywide or local pet shops.Ofcourse there is no reason why we cannot spoil our birds with a few treats in moderation.

It is important to ensure the feed stays dry if it gets damp it will go mouldy very quickly which is a major health risk to your birds so either hang the feeder in the house or buy a hopper with a rain cover.Never just scatter the pellets on the ground this is unhygienic,wasteful & a sure fire way to attract rats. 

Wintertime feeding it is good to feed your birds a handful of mixed corn in the afternoon they will relish this treat & it will help to keep them warm on cold winter nights.Sweetcorn,mealworms,sunflower seeds,Cooked pasta & greens are all treats your birds will enjoy.

If your Pekins & Silkies have access to the garden they will pick up bits of grit & suchlike otherwise supply them with a pot of grit.A flowerpot makes a good grit holder as if it rains the water will drain through
